C. Cowdelinae is a creature.

Summary[ | ]

C. Cowdelinae is a creature in the No Man's Sky universe.

It is a member of the Mogara genus, which are bipedal, can resemble a gek or teddy bear, and are also commonly referred to as "grunts". This particular species is exceptionally large, standing at a remarkable eight meters tall, and would be classified as a megafauna, an unofficial term used by players to describe a creature that is so large it shakes the ground when it walks.

The C. Cowdelinae is a pleasant and friendly creature; it does not mind the company of others, sometimes it stays solitary from its own species and sometimes it will be in small groups of two or three. The creature is very intelligent, and does not travel far in a day, they are slow moving to preserve energy in the wintry climate that takes up a lot of energy up to stay warm.

Appearance[ | ]

Both genders of the species differ greatly in appearance, the similarities being their mostly pale yellow-green color, with a brown belly and ears, as well as both having flippers similar to those of a sea turtle. They also both have bird-like feet that are reddish in color.

Gender Dimorphism[ | ]

The Male of this species is characterized by a unique and unusual face characteristics, having something similar to a mask, with three horns protruding from either side of the "mask" that curve upwards, framing the fauna's face. The eyes are small and low on the face which has brown markings on it, and he has a short stubby beak. The Male also has a large "shell" on its back, as does the other gender, but upon further inspection it seems to be wings similar to a junebug. They are a pale yellow-green as most of the fauna, with three brown circle markings on each wing, the circles being increasingly bigger from the top down. It is unknown if the wings are functional or what purpose they serve, as they have not been seen extended. The flippers on the Male have seven white barbs, possibly to be used as a weapon if threatened.

The Radical gender has large red eyes, with a long hooked beak that is not unlike a parrot has, that is brown in color. Unlike the Male of its kind, the Radical gender has a large dark brown shell on its back like a turtle, and feathers lining their flippers instead of barbs.

From the planet McIntyre, where they fight for survival amidst permanent sub-zero temperatures. Scans reveal small neural clusters growing all over their nervous system, creating a highly complex distributed brain network. Sharp digging claws allow them to excavate and consume plant roots, which appear to make up the bulk of their diet.
