CELAB Galactic Naming Guidelines is a supplementary detail page.

Corporate Conventions[edit | edit source]

CELAB Galactic Industries is looking for recognition and visibility in the NMS community. We do dictate that our subsidiaries and/or affiliates name their star system discoveries to include the word CELAB in their name in some form per our recommended guidelines below. We also dictate that discoveries should be documented in this NMS gamepedia site.

Naming of systems and planets in this format is mandatory for all employees. Reckless and continued non-compliance will result in termination of a travellers relationship with the company.

We do ask that all seriousness is taken into consideration with regard to naming discoveries.

Star System Naming[edit | edit source]

Systems - CELAB Galactic Industries, as a member of the AGT has recently (Feb 2020) decided on the following NEW nomenclature for naming systems:

AGT + Cel-original star system rootname.

The intention of this new system to assist in keeping the original name recognizable. The original star system name may be used in entirety or it may be truncated as long as some original form of the name remains. It can be suffixed with a greek number in word form if it assists in providing additional differentiation. The following examples should help:

Example Original Star System Name Recommended Name 1 Recommended Name 2
01 Alphapone AGT-Cel Alphapone Alphapone Alpha
02 Alphapone Prime AGT-Cel Alphapone AGT-Cel Alphapone Prime
03 Alphapone XIX AGT-Cel Alphapone AGT-Cel Alphapone XIX

Planet Naming[edit | edit source]

Planets/Moons - In general it is preferred to create a name sequence that will ensure uniqueness that will help identify the star system it belongs to, and to reflect numerical counts and identify easily a moon. We suggest dropping the AGT- prefix BUT MAINTAIN the Cel- prefix.

Example: 3 Planet System[edit | edit source]

For example, if the system has three planets, we suggesting the following:

  • Cel-Alphapone I
  • Cel-Alphapone II
  • Cel-Alphapone III

Example: 2 Planet/2 Moon System[edit | edit source]

For example, if the system has 2 planets and two moons, we suggesting the following:

  • Cel-Alphapone I
  • Cel-Alphapone II
  • Cel-Alphapone II Minor (for a moon of Cel-Alphapone II)
  • Cel-Alphapone II-B (for a second moon of Cel-Alphapone II)

Example: 5 Planet/1 Moon System[edit | edit source]

For example, if the system has 5 planets and 1 moon, we suggesting the following:

  • Cel-Alphapone I
  • Cel-Alphapone II
  • Cel-Alphapone III
  • Cel-Alphapone IV
  • Cel-Alphapone V
  • Cel-Alphapone V Minor (for a moon of Cel-Alphapone V)
