Chromatic Metal for purchase from a Galactic Trade Terminal.

  • Available for purchase from some Galactic Trade Terminals.
  • Secondary element in some minerals.
  • Can be requested from freighter's captain for rescuing his Freighter from pirates, up to 256 Chromatic Metal.
  • Drops from destroyed Pirate ships and NPC ships (standing will decrease) in small amounts, 30-50 Chromatic Metal per ship destroyed.
  • Drops from Freighter cargo pods (Sentinels will attack back) or accompanying free floating cargo pods (standing will decrease), 200-250 Chromatic Metal per pod destroyed.

Chromatic Metal can be refined using a Refiner with the following ingredients:

  • SUBSTANCE.YELLOW.2 Copper x2  →  SUBSTANCE.STELLAR.2 Chromatic Metal x1  ("Extract Chromatic Material", 0.36 sec./unit output)

Infinite Chromatic Metal - Beyond[ | ]

NOTE: this exploit is only possible with Indium as of the Synthesis release.

It is possible to get an infinite amount of Chromatic Metal using 1-2 Medium Refiners/Large Refiners, Indium, and Chromatic Metal.

  • Start with 4x Indium and 4x Chromatic Metal.
  • In the first Refiner put 4x Indium as the first resource and 4x Chromatic Metal as the second resource. This will generate 8x Indium.
  • In the second Refiner put 4x Indium into the first slot. This will give you a 8x Chromatic Metal, with 4x Indium leftover from step 1.
  • Repeat.

Important notes:

  • Technically only one refiner is needed, but having two makes it quicker to be doing both conversions at the same time.
  • Make sure not to use up all of your starting Indium while converting into Chromatic Metal.
  • This is also a way to get infinite Copper, Cadmium, Emeril, or Indium.
  • This does not work with Activated Indium.
  • You can add Pure Ferrite to the second refiner to jumpstart the process.
