R2D2 reference?

Easter Eggs is a documentation page of hidden oddities.

Summary[ | ]

Many video games contain Easter Eggs. The following are some that have been discovered in No Man's Sky.

Monolith Easter Egg - Proved to be False[ | ]

Easter-egg-monolith

Monolith inscription

NOTE: this was proved to be a false claim. Information below retained as part of the lore of the NMS Community.

A monolith found by a user translates to "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, we, The Kovax, sought to boldly go where no one had gone before. And so we each took up our towels, held our thumbs aloft and hitchhiked our way across the universe to carve a monolith."

This references Star Wars, Star Trek, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

You can decode the monolith's references; they are decoded by reading each line backwards.

Information thanks to Reddit user fprusch.

Unfortunately, Felipe did not bother to QUOTE HIS SOURCE, as the image was originally shared by its creator in a NMS group on Facebook. It was made using a STILL IMAGE from one of the Preview videos, and I did also happen to mistakenly omit the R in "Korvax". So, this Monolith was not "found" in the game world. Sorry to burst that bubble.

My name is Chris. I MADE THIS IMAGE, for FUN, as a nod to some fav SciFi, and as a GIFT to my fellow NMS Fans in the FB group, NOT to "trick" anyone. Prusch did not credit his source &, if he said he "found" this monolith in-game, I'm afraid he lied.

(If you download a HIGH RES version of the image, you will find my personal messages in TINY PRINT in the YELLOW HIGHLIGHTS applied to SOME letters, including a DATE and my NAME.)

Come find me on the NMS "ETARC CSD" forums -- Argent-Star. :D

(Further edit: an "Easter Egg" video ACTUALLY has the original clip which I used for my edited still - note: same scene!!)

R2D2 Easter Egg[ | ]

On some starships this particular wing part can appear. The cylindrical object with the three green circles appears to be a reference to R2D2 from the Star Wars trilogy, because of how it is sitting in a starship with the head looking out.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Easter Eggs[ | ]

The lowest Bounty level is "mostly harmless", a reference to Earth's entry in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The highest rank in words learned is Babelfish a reference to the babelfish translating everything the owner hears.
