An Electromagnetic Power Hotspot is a planet location.

Summary[ | ]

An Electromagnetic Power Hotspot is a location on a planet that is a prime location for Base building. You must install a Survey Device in your Analysis Visor and enable Surveying Mode to find Hotspots on planets.

The harvestable amount depends on whether the spot is C, B, A or S class. The farther away from the hotspot, the less is harvested. Hotspots will not actually lose potential the more they are harvested.

Electromagnetic Power Hotspots are valuable for anybody who builds a base.

Class[ | ]

There are four classes of this hotspot as noted below:

Class Max Field Strength Max Output
C 50% 150 kp
B 73.3% 220 kp
A 83.3% 250 kp
S 100% 300 kp

Generation of Power[ | ]

An Electromagnetic Generator can generate a maximum potential of 100% of the class of the hotspot if placed directly over the center of the location. In practice, it has been observed that 99% is the maximum.

Within a given power hotspot, you can place as many Electromagnetic Generators as you like, subject only to base complexity limits and physical terrain restrictions (Suggestion: Use terrain modification, or clear fixed resources such as Di-hydrogen, Sodium Nitrate, or Carbon crystal if there is obstruction).

Power levels are shown in the Survey Device as field strength, as illustrated in the gallery. The farther away from the hotspot, the less power generated. Note that power hotspots tend to be generous in terms of distance before the power levels drop off significantly.
