Waking Titan HoF — Various "first in their category" species from the Hall of Fame were displayed in the Waking Titan ARG. Some "Smallest" species (red text) were not added.

The Fauna Hall of Fame is a list of the largest and smallest species in each Genus of Fauna.

Summary

Originally created on the subreddit NMS_Zoology, the Hall of Fame (or HoF) is a list of the largest and smallest fauna in No Man's Sky.

Although the HoF was created by players, the Hall of Fame has been referenced by Hello Games and the Waking Titan ARG, making it (perhaps) a semi-official resource. There is no other known record of its kind, making the HoF an invaluable tool for curious players, tourists, and exozoologists.

Ten species are listed per category.
No entries in the HoF are affected by mods.
All entries clearly display height value in a screenshot or video.
When tied for size, first entered takes priority. Latter-entered ties always get placed below previous entries.
Entries from previous updates are allowed, but will be noted as such when possible (ie, species from 1.00 are allowed on the HoF).
Creatures affected by glitches which give the appearance of being multiple species despite having identical stats (see Divergent Species) should be added as a single entry.
Currently, the difference between the Conokinis and Bos genera is poorly understood, if there is any major difference. As such, the categories for these two genera are combined, until the difference is adequately understood.
Variations within a genus (ie, bipedal vs quadrupedal vs "winged" cows) are not currently divided into their own categories.
Subterranean variations within a genus are not currently divided into their own categories (ie, above-ground Bos spiders can reach much larger sizes than their subterranean counterparts)

The Hall of Fame was first created and managed by NMS_Zoology moderator Alaannnn, and then later curated by Galactic Hub Lead Exozoologist 7101334.

3rd Generation Formatting

Each entry in the Hall of Fame is formatted as:

Species Name - Height - Discoverer ^{Coordinates & Civilization} (Update Version, Other Brief Notes)

Species Name links to either a Wiki page for that species or an image/video which shows the height info. Coordinates and Civilization values are optional and will not be available for every entry, although both are strongly encouraged (civilization, of course, only if you are within a civilization).

The HoF has gone through a number of format-changes in the past, and is currently on its 3rd generation formatting. This formatting is primarily different in that it splits the entire HoF into genera (plural of genus), categories like "Rangifae (Diplos)" or "Prionace (Sharks)". Previous generations were split simply into Land/Sea/Air, and then split into further, yet still overly-broad categories.

This change is based on research from the Galactic Hub: a planet was found where the PS4 version had a Theroma species, but the PC version had a Rangifae (diplo) species instead. Yet the two species' statistics and characteristics, such as height, weight, temperament, and diet, were identical. Despite the identical height value, the diplo was clearly taller overall. As the planet is no longer available, this example isn't conclusive evidence for this finding in the post-Atlas Rises universe, but it is quite likely the same as pre-Atlas Rises in that regard.

Feel free to edit this page and add your own content as long as you are not using any mods which affect fauna. Modded entries and glitched doubles will be removed. Entries must clearly display the height value, or the entry will be removed.

Keep in mind that, within a given species, each gender will have two different heights displayed: one in the Analysis Visor, and one in the Discovery Menu (pause menu). You may submit whatever height best fits your desired category (ie, for a "Largest Fauna" category, you could submit the largest possible measurement; for a "Smallest Fauna" category, you could submit the smallest possible measurement).
