Combat is a display page referenced by the Game Content page.
Sentinels[ | ]
- Sentinels are robotic entities that guard most worlds. Harvesting resources in view of the Sentinels will cause them to turn hostile.
- Harvesting some resources, such as Gravitino Balls, will immediately alert Sentinels forces.
- Sentinels may approach and scan you or any resources you recently harvested. Avoid harvesting or attacking non-hostile creatures while being watched.
- Some worlds host extremely hostile Sentinels. These drones will attack on sight. Pay attention to the planet information in the Analysis Visor (Key F) to learn Sentinels status.
- The Security Level in the top right of the HUD shows the current Sentinels status. This will increase as you fight Sentinels.
- Eliminate Sentinels Drones quickly to avoid more powerful Sentinels being summoned.
- Destroying Sentinel Drones is a good source of exotic materials.
Ammunition[ | ]
- Most Multi-Tool weapons, such as the Boltcaster require ammunition. Craft ammunition in empty slots in your Inventory.
- While in combat, Reload your current weapon with Key R. this will automatically draw ammo from your inventory.
- Ensure you have crafted sufficient ammunition before entering a combat situation.
- All projects based weapons use the same ammunition: the Boltcaster, the Pulse Spitter and the Scatter Blaster.
- Energy based weapons, such as the Blaze Javelin, are charged with carbon directly from the Quick Menu or the Inventory. The Mining Beam is not use in combat.
- When out of ammo or charge, use Key Q to melee strike.
Weapon Management[ | ]
- Fire your Multi-tool with LPM. When out of ammo or charge, use Key Q to melee strike.
- Reload your current weapon with Key R. Some weapons require charge instead of ammo.
- By default, the Multi-Tool is only equipped with a Mining Beam. To increase combat power, install new Weapon Types.
- Cycle between weapon modes by using Key G.
- The Multi-Tool can be upgraded with a Terrain Manipulator, allowing the user to create and remove planetary terrain.
- Find new weapon blueprints and other Multi-Tool Upgradess in buildings or at a Technology Merchant aboard Space Stations.
- Some planetary buildings may host brand-new Multi-Tools to purchase. Each Multi-Tool has unique bonuses to boost its effectiveness.
Defensive Systems[ | ]
- Damage received while on-foot (from combat, hostile fauna or environmental damage) will first deplete your shield.
- Your shield will recharge over time. Take cover and avoid taking damage while the shield is low. Damage taken while shields are down will damage your health.
- Purchase plans for a Personal Forcefield at Technology Merchants. This is a powerful combat shield deployed from the Multi-Tool.
- Exosuit defensive and life support systems can be upgraded with new technology. Visit technology merchants on space stations to upgrade.
Ground Combat[ | ]
- Fire your Multi-Tool with LPM. When out of ammo or charge, use Key Q to melee strike.
- Aim (Key F) and Zoom (RPM) to target enemies with precision.
- Cycle between weapon modes by using Key G.
- Reload your current weapon with Key R. Ensure you have crafted sufficient ammunition before entering a combat situation.
- Damage received while on-foot will first deplete your shield. Your shield will recharge over time. Take cover and avoid taking damage while the shield is low.

Space Combat[ | ]
- Fire ship weapons with LPM. Cycle weapon modes with Key G.
- if attacked by Pirates, answer them on the Communicator with Key X. They can be bribed to leave you alone.
- Alternatively, use a Defence Chit to summon the System Authorities to aid in combat.
- Purchase Defence Chits from merchants on Space Stations.
- Stay behind your target to deal more damage and avoid enemy fire.
- Manage your speed with Boost (L Shift) and Brake (Key S) to stay behind your target.
- Turning while braking is much faster.
- Your Starship Shields will recharge over time.
- Change your current target with {,} and {.}.
- Aim at the target leading reticle for increased accuracy.
