Summary[ | ]

Doraias is a moon in the HUB10-V-1C2 Dachtylon system. It lies 76,472ks from Vermillia, and is 32,102ks in diameter. It is the only moon of the planet Vermillia.

Doraias’s classification as a desert moon isn't due to heat, but a simple lack of water. The mild weather supports a wide spectrum of plant (mostly cactus-type, including Spadonium) and animal life, and the relaxed sentinel disposition makes for easy exploration. Yellow top strata gives way to low hills and sharp peaks of slate-grey stone and occasional pockets of exposed Viridium. Large craters from ancient meteor impacts abound. Subterranean caves are mostly covered, accessed only by smaller holes in the moon’s surface, and contain no remarkable elements, though on the surface Plutonium tends to appear in exceptionally abundant quantities. The only problem to be found this otherwise agreeable world is among the fauna, nearly half of which are predatory in nature and which exist in profligate numbers.

Atmosphere and climate[ | ]

Under a blue sky, the weather on Doraias is mild and pleasant, belying the extreme temperature variances the moon is capable of manifesting. Daytime temperatures average a very undesert-like -5.4°C during the day, well within exosuit tolerances, though the temperature does dip to -49.6°C at night. Very rare (and comparatively short) heat storms do arise at times, which can increase local temperatures to 87.1°C.

Doraias has an extremely low population, with only a handful of small outposts, abandoned buildings, and science stations (such as Legantan Observatory) spread sporadically over many miles of space. Though no trade routes can be seen between Dachtylon’s space station and the moon, it does have at least one trading post (Doraias Station), though there is no module for a habitable base.

Flora[ | ]

The flora on Doraias is plentiful, mostly of the common cactus and dry-tree families growing over patches of short, green scrubgrass. Spadonium cacti can be found, though not in large numbers.
