Updated Outlaws

Chrysaora is a genus.

Summary[ | ]

Chrysaora is a genus of fauna in No Man's Sky. Generally referred to as jellyfish (the term used by the game code). Chrysaora species are found exclusively underwater, and are never predatory, although they do explode if touched by a player. Although they may be found at any depth of water, they will sometimes have issues spawning in very shallow pools, either not spawning at all or exhibiting glitchy behaviour.

Major Variants & Characteristics[ | ]

Chrysaora have no major variants, although they do have a wide variety of diversity in their appearance.

Standard Chrysaora Appearance[ | ]

  • Propel themselves by jet propulsion: inflation and deflation of the upper portion of their body (the head in most species).
  • Most species have either two eyes, appearing either as a pair of eyestalks or bulging eyes, or four front-facing eyes.
  • All species have tentacles, typically appearing as either eight radially arranged, arrow-headed tentacles, or ten ribbon-shaped tentacles which appear in two bilaterally symmetrical rows

Shared Characteristics[ | ]

  • Usually found in large schools (10+) of the same species.
  • Causes damage to the player upon collision, killing itself in the process.

Additional information[ | ]

At one point jellyfish were a subtype of the Ictaloris genus, but were expanded into being their own separate genus with the Abyss update.
