X. Quilaytoe is a creature.
Summary[ | ]
X. Quilaytoe is a creature in the No Man's Sky universe.
This member of the Conokinis genus is relatively uncommon but not hard to find on the wind-swept, arid plains of its native world.
Appearance[ | ]
This classically shaped Lesser Mushroom Beetle or LMB, only features the fungal symbiote on the Male gender. Both genders have the same yellowish green base coloration.
An LMB is a less rare subcategory of the player defined category Greater Mushroom Beetle. The two types are differentiated by the presence or lack of a stem on the fungal symbiote. The LMB is generally considered less rare and noteworthy than the GMB.
Gender Dimorphism[ | ]
Other than the obvious presence of the fungal symbiote, the Male and Asymmetric genders of this species differ in a number of ways.
The Male gender has 6 legs that are used for locomotion with an additional two front legs that appear to be used to manipulate their environment. The eye stalks jut out slightly forward of the main body and appear to be blue. The superior carapace features an array of brown sections that are partially obscured by the symbiote.
The Asymmetric gender is solid yellowish green across the entirety of the creature. It stands slightly shorter than its male counterpart due to the lack of a symbiont. The leg configuration is identical to the Male. The Asymmetric gender is more crab-like in appearance, overall. The superior carapace resembles a brain due to medial depression that creates the appearance of two hemispheres. Due to the lack of a deceased specimen upon which to conduct a dissection, it is unknown at this time whether this is the actual location of the creature's brain. The posterior section of the carapace has a number of spikes or extremely course hairs of unknown use.
