However, control of the system is always given to the Civilized space community that wants to claim it, or any traveler nonetheless.

Guidelines[ | ]

Sea Vessels[ | ]

Though space-bound transportation is essential to the movement of goods and cargo between planets and systems, the oceans are used to move cargo between locations or continents on the same planet. The G.T.F is very serious about the business of shipping by sea and has rigid standards in place regarding the design, creation, and management of ships, and the organization of fleets.

Note that sea vessels are exclusively player-created in the form of bases.

Fleet Organization[ | ]

Each individual fleet of the G.T.F consist of one Freighter, two Battleships, three support vessels, and a tugboat.

Freighters
being the largest and most vulnerable of the G.T.F's ships, and the backbone of any fleet, freighter designs are bold and angular. This design is said to make onlookers aware of the status and importance of the freighter and its fleet. Around 85% of the freighter's deck is used for cargo alone. The main deck carries shipping containers and any other typical cargo. The front deck has dedicated space to ship up to eight starships. Typically, 5-7 of these slots contain starships to be shipped, while the remaining slots are preserved to fly goods and ammunition between the freighter and the rest of the fleet.
Battleships
about 80% the size of a freighter, the battleships are tall and intimidating. The battleships are armed to defend against sea-bound pirates, but also are equipped with landing pads for starships to fight against pirate raids via the skies. Battleships are shorter and thinner, but taller, than freighters. On many designs, a sheltered hangar is located under the helm deck, which is used to ship exocraft, as the fleet's freighter does not have a dedicated hangar. Battleships are typically armed far beyond the scope of the threats they will need to defend against; a single Battleship could wipe the typical pirate fleet using about 10% of its ammunition.
Support Vessels
located behind the Freighter and Battleships, these are smaller, faster boats, about 30% the size of a Battleship, capable of eliminating evasive pirate boats. Support vessels are typically with light weaponry suited to puncture the hulls of boats smaller than itself, where interference by a Battleship is not (yet) needed. Some designs choose to sacrifice much of the vessel's light weaponry to fit a single precision cannon on the main deck, which can sink pirate vessels with one or two shots from a great distance. In case of low-visibility weather, Support vessels may move from their positions behind the larger ships and scout the area ahead to prevent a pirate ambush.
Tugboat
By far the smallest vessel in the fleet, a tugboat lies behind the Support Vessels, serving in the back of the fleet. Though it is more expensive to purchase, maintain, and crew a tugboat than is would be to order the service of one at the freighter's final destination, the G.T.F controls its own order of tugboats with top-of-the-line crews that, at the freighter's destination, are able to discern docks that may be operated by pirates or will otherwise attempt to siphon goods from the freighter. This is because these specialized crews are often partially comprised of reformed pirates. The tugboat ensures that the freighter will be safe even after it has reached the destination.

Ship Coding[ | ]

Though each ship is typically referred to by the traditional name given by its captain (ex: GTF Blue Whale), each ship has an official identification code, printed on either side of the ship in bold white.

Identification codes follow this guideline: [randomized 4-digit code] | [fleet number]

For example, a ship of the 1,234th fleet to ever be deployed may have a code that looks something like this: [7890 | 1234]

These codes are typically used to locate and identify the wrecks of fallen ships.
