Hermes is a star system in No Man's Sky.

Summary[edit | edit source]

Hermes is a star system in the No Man's Sky universe.

First discovered by an American expedition around 2090, one of its planets, Aurora, was earmarked as a possible candidate for future colonization. This colony, named Freedom, was built in 2091 and existed until the outbreak of the First Contact War. At its height in 2105, Freedom had a population of almost 50,000 people, with thousands more living in homesteads across Aurora. Aurora was bombarded with nuclear weapons after the first battle of the First Contact War, transforming the formerly lush world into a dead one. Of the original three colonies (Plymouth, Minerva, and Freedom), Freedom was the smallest and furthest away from the Euclid Wormhole.

Hermes is not officially claimed by the United States of New Cascadia as part of their territory due to the nuclear bombardment on Aurora. The system is, however, under protection of the Republic Starfleet.
