Mining Beam Upgrade is a multi-tool upgrade.

Summary[edit | edit source]

Mining Beam Upgrades, contained within Mining Beam Modules, are procedurally generated upgrades granting bonuses to the Multi-tool's Mining Beam.

Upgrade properties[edit | edit source]

Up to three Mining Beam Upgrades can be installed in the inventory of the Multi-tool. Installing four or more upgrades will disable all upgrades of that type until the upgrade count is reduced to three or less.

Mining Beam Upgrades have the following bonuses:

  • UPGRADECAT.SPEED.png Mining Speed: increases Mining Beam damage against minerals and flora.
  • Upgradecat.time.png Heat Dispersion: decreases the rate the Mining Beam generates heat.
  • Upgradecat.energy.png Fuel Efficiency: decreases charge drain rate.
  • Upgradecat.time.png Reload Time: decreases the cool-down rate of the Mining Beam.1

1 This stat is generally overlooked as the Mining Beam's cool-down can be avoided by quickly resetting the fire button.


The table shows the minimum and maximum values of the bonuses, while the number of bonuses indicates how many are granted randomly for each class.

Installing[edit | edit source]

Upgrade modules follow a static progression. The generation seed is used for all module families at the same time. During module installations it goes up by one. The new module they change into correlates to their order of installation. If the game is reloaded, the exact same pool will be offered to the player, no matter the order they install other modules.

Example: An S-class module of "Ancient Ion Cycler" is loaded on the third installation no matter in what order the former modules are installed or their class. If the same S-class module is used third again, it will once again be the "Ancient Ion Cycler". Only if used second or fourth will it change to something else.
