Project Elon is a player event.

Summary

Project Elon is a mostly-just-for-fun, probably-impossible-to-win event hosted by the Galactic Hub civilization. The goal of the project is to try to put an Exocraft in space.

It is inspired by and named after Elon Musk, businessman, engineer, and most relevantly, SpaceX founder. In February 2018, SpaceX launched a Tesla Roadster into space, the direct inspiration for this event.

Requirements

Players are encouraged to use any in-game methods, which will very likely need to include glitches, to achieve atmospheric exit with an exocraft. Players are strongly recommended to conduct all attempts on moons - experience with the old "crashed freighter glitch" showed that moons have a smaller atmosphere than regular planets, allowing you to escape more easily.

To "win" this event, you must record your atmospheric exit. As it may be difficult for some PC users to record, screenshots of the "launch process" will count, but video is best. The ideal outcome would be a repeatable base design to allow exocrafts to be launched into space - people could visit your base and launch into orbit.

Project Record

Players are encouraged to log their attempts in this section of the page, including any failed attempts (both for laughs and so other players can avoid repeating the same mistakes). An example section is included below, for users unfamiliar with the wiki.

  • Tried driving at a tree really fast. Did not exit atmosphere. Hurt neck.
