Manifesto[edit | edit source]

We are the ScrapGek. Lower than the most insignificant toilgek, we have been shunned from society, forced to live amongst the wasteland systems. Yet, this is our greatest advantage. The dead wastes have strengthened our minds and bodies. We go bravely into the darkest and dankest areas of the galaxy where others would falter. We build beauty out of the refuse others leave behind. Masters of Scrap Alchemy, we craft profit from the junk others turn away from. We are the ScrapGek.

Background[edit | edit source]

The founder of ScrapGek Enterprises, a diminutive Gek known as The Alchemist, was once just a simple merchant courier until his ambition got the better of him. After failing to pull off a pirate attack on a high-value shipment, The Alchemist was exiled to the dead wastes at the edge of the galaxy. However, where others found only empty systems and ruins, The Alchemist found fortune.

While scouring a crashed freighter, The Alchemist discovered a wealth of technology and goods amongst the wreckage. The budding entrepreneur concluded that with the vast amount of wrecks and ruins that are scattered across the galaxy, there was enough salvageable tech and material to generate more profit than even the wealthiest MagnateGek could handle. Recruiting other exiled scavengers, The Alchemist set off to build an Empire of Junk and Scrap.

Operations and Divisions[edit | edit source]

ScrapGek Enterprises focuses its efforts on three distinct activities: Archaeology, Salvage, and Recycling.

Archaeology[edit | edit source]

This operation focuses on uncovering ancient remains of lost and forgotten civilizations that may be either synthetic, biological, both, or neither. Discoveries are dutifully logged and preserved to the fullest extent. In accordance with the Intergalactic Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (IGPRA), all remains that can be accurately tied back to a living civilization are dutifully returned and left in the care of the appropriate cultures. Any other remains that cannot be identified as belonging to an existing culture are sold on the black market dedicated to qualified researchers and scientists.

The Archaeology Division is also in charge of any biological specimens recovered from operation sites such as fluids, slime, larvae, and mould. Whether these specimens can be refined into useful elements, sold to the public, or should be destroyed is made on a case by case basis.

Discussions of whether a museum will be built to showcase preserved artifacts are ongoing and a decision has not been made.

Salvage[edit | edit source]

This operation focuses on the recovery, reparation, and restoring of discovered technology and machinery deemed salvageable by ScrapGek Technicians. This could include, but is not limited to, crashed spaceships, damaged machinery, buried technology, and recoverable equipment modules. Any items deemed high quality due to being particularly old or unique, or by having some other characteristic that deems it so, will be dutifully logged and preserved to the fullest extent. All other items may be sold to the public for profit or used as operational equipment.

Discussion of whether a museum will be built to showcase preserved technology are ongoing and a decision has not been made.

Recycling[edit | edit source]

This operation focused on handling all materials recovered from operational sites that is deemed not salvageable by ScrapGek Technicians. Machinery far too damaged to be repaired, metals that are severely rusted or are byproducts of salvage processes, and anything considered debris fall into this category. Any items that can be refined or broken down into useful elements will be and either sold to the public for profit or used as operational equipment. All other items that cannot be refined will be compacted and dumped on the lawns of political rivals / fired into the nearest star to be burned up by the high energy of nuclear fission processes properly disposed of according to the guidelines set by the Environmental Waste Disposable Act (EWDA).
