Solar Panel is a base building product.

Summary[edit | edit source]

Solar Panel is a base building product that generates power from solar energy during the daytime. It can be connected to various base building products with Electrical Wiring to supply power to them.

Game description[edit | edit source]

An efficient power generator, this solar array will turn sunlight into the electrical energy required to power many base structures.

Generates no power at night. Partner with Batteries to store energy for the hours of darkness.

Source[edit | edit source]

The blueprint can be obtained from the Construction Research Station aboard the Space Anomaly, costing 8 Salvaged Data to unlock.

Build[edit | edit source]

Solar Panel can be built using a blueprint and the following ingredients:

NOTE: Blueprint from Synthesis needed for proof of this formula

Power generation[edit | edit source]

A Solar Panel will output power as follows:

  • 25kPs of power during twilight times ( morning and evening)
  • 50kPs output during the peak of the day
  • 0kPs output during night due to insufficient light

The length of the twilight period will get longer at the expense of both day and night period lengths - the closer the Solar Panel is to either of the two geographic poles of the current planet or moon, while both the day and night periods will likewise get longer (at the expense of twilight period length) the closer the Solar Panel is to the geographic equator.

Power Grid Information[edit | edit source]

Interacting with a Solar Panel displays the following power grid information:

  • total power currently generated by all connected generators
  • total power currently consumed by all connected base products
  • amount of power currently stored in all connected Batteries
  • amount of daytime/nighttime remaining - which is displayed in real-time minutes and seconds (and therefore is not paused when the game paused, and also will differ slightly to the "Local time" displayed by Analysis Vistor).

Using solar panels in a cuboid-built base will act as though the entire cuboid is connected even without wiring. Useful for a sleek and hidden power set.

Solar Cells and Batteries[edit | edit source]

Solar Panels work effectively when paired with Batteries to store excess power during the day, in order to supply power into the grid while Solar Panels are offline at night. Partner with Batteries to store energy for the hours of darkness, at a ratio of 2 panels to 1 battery for every 50kPs needed (thus during the day: one panel will be powering the grid at the rate of 50kPs while the second panel will be charging the battery at the same time; during the night: the battery will be powering the grid while both panels will be offline).
