The Solis Dominion is a Civilized space community.

Summary[ | ]

The Solis Dominion originated in a cluster of systems in the Euclid galaxy. However they have now migrated to the Eissentam galaxy. The Dominion is ruled over by His Eminence, the One in Green and Gold, the Green Sun King.

Formed from the ruins of a prior civilisation, four different castes of peoples were united under the guidance and ruler-ship of the Green Sun King. Bringing technology, medicine, food, and resources to the almost barbaric survivors of a once great society, he was able to bring them back into the light and forge a new society.

The Solis Dominion is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and enabling its people to achieve their full potential.

The Solis Dominion, A Brief History[ | ]

The exact details of the Solis Dominion’s Founding are lost to time. However the four castes all have origin myths and legends that are similar enough to each other, to help one form an idea as to what happened. Each caste tells of a time after fire and death, a time when survivors struggled to live in a new world/a hellish afterlife/a post-apocalypse. Each caste was few in number, low in resources and generations passed with no hope for the future.

Then hope arrived. The Eldur caste tell of it as a light from the sky, landing with a great roaring and blasts of fire and of a figure in green and gold emerging from the light to offer the people a future. The Erka caste tell of an ancient monument erupting in a blast of light and energy and from a disc of light the same figure in green and gold emerges, once again offering all. The Shoflic caste tell of a migration time, of the caste moving over familiar lands to find a new towering structure of green and gold, from which the figure emerges to welcome them. The Zuwan caste tell of a magical chariot gliding over the sea and the figure stepping out to greet them.

As all now know, the figure in green and gold was our benevolent ruler, the Green Sun King. He visited each caste bringing food, technology, medicine and above all, hope. His guiding hand helped raise the castes to new heights of wonder, forging them together into the Solis Dominion.

The origins of the Green Sun King himself are unknown. He has lived for many generations since the Dominion formed, with most suspecting he was alive for many generations before even that glorious event. His race is unknown, but his wisdom is profound and his intellect unrivaled.

Government[ | ]

The Ruler[ | ]

The One in Green and Gold, His Eminence, the Green Sun King rules over Dominion space with a fair and just hand. His actions and planning have brought together four peoples, each slowly failing in their own way, forged them into one and led them into the stars.

His origins are a mystery, but few care about this. His actions since arriving more than make up for any answers some people feel they need.

The Council[ | ]

While the One in Green and Gold rules the Dominion, he has a Council of Advisers to consult if he wishes. Each Councillor is an expert on a given area (military, economics, foreign relations etc) and regularly travels Dominion space to remain on top of their field of knowledge.

The Councilors are drawn from all castes and barring one notable historical exception, the position is for life.

The Palace[ | ]

The Royal Palace is a space station sized ship that moves between the star systems within Solis Dominion space. It contains the Central Government, Military Headquarters and the Core Economic Exchange.

Foreigners are not allowed to enter the Palace. Solis Dominion inhabitants view it as an almost holy place. Being invited to visit or even work within the Palace is seen by many to be the ultimate life goal.

Planetary Rule[ | ]

Each planet has it's own Governor who is in charge of local government day to day activities. They receive directives from the Palace and send regular reports. They are responsible for taxes being collected, manufacturing to meet targets and military recruitment to maintain required levels.

Where possible the Governor is selected from a planet's populace, however if no suitable candidate can be found, the Palace will send a Governor to run things until a local candidate can be trained and made ready.

The Castes[ | ]

Eldur[ | ]

Planet of Origin: Eldursporunni

The Eldur are a hardy caste, whose planet was already a wasteland before the Green Sun King arrived. They were expert scavengers, tinkerers and crafters and using these skills they had built for themselves a cluster of towns and farms that were well on their way to becoming a bustling society.

However a mere two decades after the Solis Dominion formed, a solar flare blasted the atmosphere of Eldur and started its decline to the current barren rock it is today.

The Eldur were evacuated and now reside on Homeworld, where they design and manufacture most of the technology used throughout the Solis Dominion. Their own world was renamed Eldursporunni, which means Lost Home in their native tongue.

Zuwan[ | ]

Planet of Origin: Zuwan

Even with their higher resistance to radiation than most, the Zuwan still needed to move their society underground after the Ghost Rains of Death, to survive the inhospitable nature of their home.

They became adept at tunneling, construction, hydroponics and mining.

After the formation of the Solis Dominion, the Zuwan are the ones most likely found in the construction yards or down the mines.

Shoflic[ | ]

Planet of Origin: Shoflic

The Shoflic are an aggressive people. Their planet was hit particularly hard when the Times of Fire came, leaving them with very little to scavenge. Over time the Shoflic tribes warred with one another over the remaining resources again and again, until it became the way of life for the caste. While this kept the numbers of the caste lower than the others, it meant each caste member is a warrior from birth.

Now the Shoflic form the bulk of the military, private sector security and law enforcement within Dominion space.

Erka[ | ]

Planet of Origin: Erka

The Erka got off lucky in their time of devastation. They lost power and all digitally saved information in one night after a shock wave of energy swept the planet's surface. The following months saw mass starvation, hostilities, and disease.

In time, things came to a balance of sorts and people got on with living. Most settled into the new life and assumed this was it. Some sought to rediscover what had been lost. These few managed to slowly rebuild lost knowledge, uncover books, files, charts, and diagrams. They had those with the knowledge, the scientists, engineers, and doctors write down everything they could remember.

As such when the Green Sun King visited them, there was not as much he needed do to bring the Erka into the light.

These days, the Erka are split between farming and roles exploring science and technology, ever seeking to advance the limit of their peoples learning.
