Distances[]

I didn't do the migration so I obviously missed some change here without the star and considering I recently told someone how to accurately measure distances after HG removed the easy mission distance information for the galaxy centre to know it (no thanks HG, you know how to be a pain), there seem some insane claims. Mathematically that distance seems unlikely (200ly+) and I WILL investigate that today! If it turns out to be less , but still a record, I will give the correct info. If it was done perfectly, we will of course uphold it. Honestly I did expect up to 130ly... so it might only be a little off if it is the ultimate pocket.

For those reading, measuring is done by:

1)Click on the system and then only steer left and right to the highest and lowest distance of the circle your camera is aligned on. Do NOT change zoom during the process!

2)Take their average, that is your center of the circle, that is the star system's distance from the centre. The camera is NOT fixed on the system but your viewing location. HG messed that up! You can ruin measurements easily over 100ly based on zoom level. Do NOT! Records need to be accurate if you advertise them.

No thanks HG... no thanks to you.Thamalandis (talk) 15:28, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

1.159.210ly is correct with 170-250 in radial results. Impressive! Thamalandis (talk) 19:26, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
Finished the visit to all claims... only the RECORD for distance was correct. Mad respect for accuracy to the one charting that. Rest was... rather terrible with the Galaxy Centre values seemingly needlessly exaggerated even past the lower radial apex... that made no sense.Thamalandis (talk) 20:21, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

We should rename this to Euclid (Atlas Rises) then... or do we make a new page? Thamalandis (talk) 20:29, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

___ GALAXY: EUCLID DIAMETER: APPX. 400,000 LY WIDTH: APPX:101,085.39 LY MY STARTING REGION: BESSMANKE REGION LOCATION: 2203.70 LY NORTH OF GALAXY EQUITORIAL PLANE

                179007.8 LY FROM CENTER
BESSMANKE DISTANCE FROM NORTH POLE ZENITH 701.2 LY WEST OF LOLMANTHIA REGION
BESSMANKE DISTANCE FROM SOUTH POLE ZENITH 701.2 LY EAST OF SIZAWASENEKH REGION

BESSMANKE REGION IS 49,440.8 LY SOUTH OF THE VERTICLE EUCLID EXIT BESSMANKE REGION IS 51,64.59 LY NORTH OF THE VERTICLE EUCLID EXIT

NOTE: STARTING MEASUREMENTS ARE FROM THE BARRETT002 SYSTEM

NAVIGATION: IF YOU WISH TO TRAVEL TO THIS REGION TAKE YOUR CURRENT POSITION AND CALCULATE YOUR DISTANCE FROM THE CENTER COMPARED TO THE DISTANCE AWAY FOR THE BESSMANKE REGION. ONCE YOU ARRIVE IN THE REGION CONTINUE TO USE YOUR STAR MAP TO PINPOINT THE CALCULATION TO THE BARRETT002 STARSYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM HAS 2 PLANETS AND 1 MOON. WARNING: PLANET M882 IS VERY HOSTILE - MOST HOSTILE PLANET EXPERIENCED SO FAR.

ENJOY - GOOD LUCK

Ddfairchild (talk) 00:30, 26 July 2018 (UTC)It appears that galaxy and region names at least did not change with the NEXT update. (I've even heard that planets retained their names, but that is still be discussed). Fill in why you think we need an Atlas Rises version of the Euclid page? Thanks!

The entry is just as old as the update DDF. With the databank in disarray due to overpopulation (by 2500%) it is hard to judge what did and did not change. But yes regions didn't, and it seems when the DB finally gets a ping through to a player, even old names for systems load (Delta Polaris). And yes some planets retained name and biotope (Educerin in Delta Polaris). I am not sure if the other things are PU's or actual new planet changes until the DB of the game works again though, as mentioned in the comments. Courtesy of living near the Fade and the damn PU phenomenon. I actually think I even saw the same ship types (same type of space battle freighters). So MAYBE we need to recall some of the ships from the catalogue you removed. Thamalandis (talk) 00:42, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

I will admit I've wondered about ships and the like. I feel pretty confident that not rebuilding the galaxy pages is the right thing this time around. As far as starships go, my thoughts are that if someone discovers Starship S23 and enters that name to create a new page and it's already OUT there from Atlas Rises, the original page will pop up. At that point, they can modify the page if necessary, and make sure it shows up on the NEXT index page. I'll keep watch out for such events and treat each one as an individual case. But if worst comes to worst and we find many duplicate starships, we could probably rebuild with what is now on the Atlas pages. We shall see! Ddfairchild (talk) 04:51, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
