Did they nerf these?[edit source]

I think they might have nerfed the Hyperdrives. My Freighter, Vanguard-5, used to have a range of 2864 lightyears per jump, now it has about 2478 lightyears per jump. What gives? Rockatoa, a very concerned Brickticks out! Brickticks (talk) 01:40, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

So they brought it in line - after readding the tech at all - with the normal hyperdrive. Unless you use perfect layouts, an Explorer or Exotic with 60%+ won't reach more than 2600 either. For normal hyperdrives the synergy is 5% per link of the boosted module. So for freighters the maximum would be D-H-H-H or 5 boosts. To maximize that the 300 and 800 should take center to maximize the boost. For the 800 that would be 80 extra and 30 for the 300. Then 10 for the 200. Overall an extra potential of 120. Considering the base bonus is 1300, this would make 1420 extra. I do not see a base jump range on the page and I never used the freighter jump, so I can't calculate the current % bonus properly. I also do not know if the % bonus is applied to the base hyperdrive as well without visual info.Thamalandis (talk) 00:59, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
HG made the same system as for the starship, there are three new hyperdrive technology for freighter: Warp Shielding Sigma for red systems (like Cadmium Drive), Warp Shielding Tau for green systems (like Emeril Drive) and Warp Shielding Theta for blue systems (like Indium Drive). Those always were separate. Freighters only have 4 tech slots and NO TECH can be put into the general slots even if yo uwant to. This is exactly for base module plus the three upgrades. There is no option. While the normal starship color upgrade do not come with LY boosts - and thus do not profit from links and can be used "around" the boost cluster - the color drives of the freighter still do offer the bonus. They unlock star colors and give ly. You acquire them by buying the tech at the starship merchant now. And the base jumprange is also 100ly, if that gets boosted it is +5. So we get a base distance of 1525x1.4% for S-Class = 2135ly. Thas is too low. The bonus must be higher than 5%. 10% evaluation: 100 + 10 + 800 + 160 + 300 + 60 + 200 + 20 = 1650. x1.4 = 2310ly. They clearly compensate for the less modules with higher bonuses... Thamalandis (talk) 01:37, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

Color upgrades[edit source]

The page mentions that coloured system upgrades require metals only available in the respective color. I believe that is not a bug, rather the game intends to have your regular starship visit those systems, collect the stellar material then upgrade the freighter. The spaceship only requires previous tier for upgrades (you need chromatic metal from copper for cadmium drive, cadmium for emeril drive and emeril for indium drive), unlike the freighter which requires same tier.

Also note that you can summon your freighter in systems that it can't normally reach (can anyone check?) 00:17, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
