Frigate Stats and Hidden Attribute[]

I know the crew mood was considered already - logical would be a RNG chance to certain events in expeditions for a programmer - but there are also the little "sidenotes" like a benevolent AI as a side ability. I also noticed that not all frigates are "equal" after subtractic their bonuses from the traits. How far is research here right now?Thamalandis (talk) 22:30, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Both the frigate and the trait page was made around 24 August (NEXT 1.57), after that I did not make further research. I documented the crew mood changes after each successful missions (parallel with level up research), and I didn't find any useful info, but I could add to the page what possible names are for it. "No useful info". So I take it whenever your ship changed mood it didn't change base stats right? So mood would imply if that is correct to ONLY influence mission results (as seen in the debrief) in theory. Hard to prove as the huge RNG inside that is unknown. But I would think so. If you can confirm that mood changes without level up NEVER change the base stats of a frigate, we can focus on the sub-attribute for the differences without extrapolating the mood. Also yes, feel fre to make a table on the frigate page. It has a VERY empty crew mood section.Thamalandis (talk) 22:51, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
No, it did not change the stats (at that time), only level up. Probably the best to check it again though, maybe HG changed something since. Also it would be best to document with some screenshots, as the last time I didn't think of that. It will take some time though, so hopefully I will have something concrete to share around the weekend. Gorla (talk) 23:07, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
I collected some screenshots of dozens of frigates to compare their stats. Got some lv 1 ones as well for a level playing field. It would of course help to know what the stat growth per level is. Currently it seems "next to none" if I compare big shots to low shots actually. Who knows.Thamalandis (talk) 00:23, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
I made a Frigate/Research subpage for documenting, although I'm still not finished it, but at least you can see some results. Gorla (talk) 16:22, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
So +6 randomly per level. Alright... that complicates non-level 1 frigates as you don't know if random points or the subtrait did it... question is if the subtrait does influence which stat gets it during level up. Please level them further a second and third time. If the stat distribution is really fully random we shouldn't see a pattern.Thamalandis (talk) 16:41, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
Actually scrap that, the level ups look static, for all versions of missions. We might be able to make a stat tree. If you check all pictures you always get the same bonus PER class. We should note those down.Thamalandis (talk) 16:44, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
I feel stupid not realising that until now, I just checked the remaining tests (3 more) and it is the same as well. Gorla (talk) 16:52, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Is there a typo?[]

The trait selection numbers don't add up. How can there be 72+ and 25- traits but it is only chosen from 42+ and 20- traits. It is not even explained!Thamalandis (talk) 02:45, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

I made some clarification to indicate the number of available traits depend on the frigate type. I hope it is clear now, if not let's discuss it. Gorla (talk) 06:07, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
I did the same shortly after.Thamalandis (talk) 06:10, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
By the way thanks for pointing this out, sometimes I may not formulate as clearly as I want. Gorla (talk) 07:43, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Still need to research this, but a frigate I hired (bought?) had the Cowardly Gunners trait when I bought it. After a few expeditions it gained a star and the negative trait dropped off. Does anyone else have data on this phenomenon yet? Steven Jay Wright (talk) 10:50, 22 August 2018 (UTC)

I will try to test it, although the 5 expeditions per day could make it a long-term research to be thorough. Gorla (talk) 11:35, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
The Frigate page itself refers to the ability of frigates to upgrade based on missions accomplished: Frigates keep track of how many expeditions they have been on, which improves their rank. The level up is based on the number of encounters a frigate has faced, and not the number of expeditions. Each expedition has multiple encounters, and the longer the expedition, the more encounters (and rewards) will appear. I'm sure this is part of that upgrade process.
