The Space Anomaly
Mission type Primary
Starting point: Space
Requires: Progression beyond the Monolith encounter in Awakenings
Description Mission associated with the Space Anomaly

The Space Anomaly is a primary mission.

Summary[ | ]

The Space Anomaly is the mission associated with its namesake object, the Space Anomaly. The mission tasks the player with completing Journey Milestones and delivering data to Specialist Polo, one of its inhabitants, in exchange for base technology blueprints.

Initial Description[ | ]

There is a strange space station in this system, an anomaly outside of the day-to-day business of the Gek, Vy'keen and Korvax. It emits a strange signal, as if it is speaking directly and exclusively to me...

Walkthrough[ | ]

Transition from Awakenings[ | ]

If the player decided, upon returning to space after the monolith encounter in Awakenings, to follow the cryptic messages, the mission will immediately begin, asking the player to reveal the Space Anomaly using their starship's scanner. If the player instead decided to ignore the cryptic messages, the mission will begin once they arrive in a system with an already-visible Space Anomaly (which usually occurs two warps after the decision was made). Once the mission has begun, the player must enter the Space Anomaly and speak to a Gek lifeform called Specialist Polo to start the mission's first cycle.

The First Cycle[ | ]

Polo will first ask the player to reach milestone Recognised for Alien Encounters (requires interaction with 30 aliens in total). Once the player has obtained the milestone, they must return to the Space Anomaly (usually after revealing it again with a starship scan) and give Polo the data they desire. Doing so will reward the player with a random base technology blueprint of a particular category, chosen from exosuit, starship or Multi-tool. (Technology upgrade blueprints, such as the blueprint for Rocket Boots, cannot be obtained from the Space Anomaly.)

Once the reward has been claimed, the player must talk to Polo once more to learn that they need time to analyse the current data, starting a 2-hour timer (which elapses in real time) until the end of the first cycle.

Subsequent Cycles[ | ]

For cycles after the first, the player must perform the following actions to progress:

  • Upon the conclusion of the previous cycle's timer, enter the Space Anomaly and tell Polo a tale.
    • Telling a tale of wonder awards a starship base technology blueprint.
    • Telling a tale of action awards a multi-tool base technology blueprint.
    • Telling a tale of discovery awards an Exosuit base technology blueprint.
  • Collect new data for Polo by reaching a specific milestone (see milestone list for details).
  • Return to the Space Anomaly and deliver the data to receive another Exosuit, starship or Multi-tool base technology blueprint.
  • Speak to Polo again to begin another 2-hour timer, then wait for the timer to elapse.

Priest Entity Nada[ | ]

Though Priest Entity Nada is not directly involved in the mission The Space Anomaly, interactions with the Korvax lifeform are limited until the player has completed certain tasks:

  • Once in a given cycle, after completion of its main objective, Nada will grant aid to the player in one of three ways when approached:
    • If the player asks to be set on the path of the Atlas, Nada will mark the location of a nearby Atlas Station, allowing the player to progress through the mission The Atlas Path. This option is removed permanently once the player has completed that mission.
    • If the player asks for a shortcut to the centre, Nada will mark the location of a nearby Black Hole which the player can use to make significant progress toward the centre of the current galaxy.
    • If the player asks for resources for exploration, Nada will grant the player a random base technology blueprint.
  • Upon completion of the main objective of the first cycle, Nada can be approached at any time to redeem first-time completions of milestones for 50 Nanite Clusters each.
    • Only one save on the player's account can redeem the Nanite Cluster reward for each milestone.

Milestone List[ | ]

Over the course of the mission, Polo will require the player to reach the following milestones:

Rewards[ | ]

  • Various base technology blueprints
  • Various Upgrade Modules (substitute rewards once the player has learned all base technology blueprints of a category)
  • AtlasPass v1 blueprint (2nd cycle)
  • AtlasPass v2 blueprint (7th cycle)
  • AtlasPass v3 blueprint
  • Ability to obtain aid from Priest Entity Nada once per cycle
