Moon type[ | ]

Ventus Calidus is a Nuclear Moon. It experiences frequent radioactive supercell storms during sunlight which can elevate radiation levels from around 5.6 rads to nearly 10 rads. Sodium is a fairly rare resource on the surface. Be prepared during extended expeditions with a supply of ion batteries, large quantities of sodium or sodium nitrate unless shelter is nearby. Ovonsodite, brecoite and onpeaite deposits contain both ferrite dust and small quantities of uranium. Another source of uranium is the gamma root of the Bowtrunk Tree. Groves of Gamma Weed can also be found on the surface. Cobalt and copper deposits are plentiful.

Across most of the moon, one can find cylindrical pillars with sheer sides and flat tops. These appear to be a regular feature created by the moon's geological past. Long, winding canyons, many visible from orbit, run for thousands of units across the surface. Shallow caves can occasionally be found along their course which may offer shelter from the weather.
