Automatic translation device is an exosuit upgrade.

Automatic translation device technology allows a player to understand alien words more quickly, even though you haven't learned them yet.
It records and parses nearby conversations before running the data through a contextual learning system to determine intended meaning.
During a conversation, you will see more words of the conversation than you have actually learned. Even if you have only learned a couple of words, more of the sentence will be understandable. However, the translator doesn't teach you these additional words - they are only understood for the duration of the conversation (or if the same line is repeated by that character within a short time by talking to them again).

There are several variations of this technology:
- Tier C - Artemis' Translator - Translates 1 word
- Tier B - Simple Translator - Translates 1 word
- Tier A - Superior Translator - Translates 2 words
- Tier S - Advanced Translator - Translates 3 words
Having more than one will allow more words to be translated, up to a total of 7 words. Once you have learned all in-game words the normal way, there are still words that need translating, that you can never learn. These translators take care of that problem.
Even though a synergy bonus is normally provided by connections in other technology, translations do not provide synergy. Having all 4 will provide you with 7 words translated, but they will not provide you with more by placing them together.
