The Black Star Order is a Civilized space HUB community, located in the Tejeti Cloud region of the Euclid galaxy and widespread in Calypso, Budullangr, Eissentam, Elkupalos and Odyalutai.
Background
The BSO exists to bring civilization in the unknown regions of the Universe and to spread the Cult of the Black Star, an agnostic religion that doesn't believe in good or evil, but considers everything "relative". As stated in its fundamental Constitution, the Order promotes exploration, the search of knowledge, and peace among civilizations.

The Cult of the Black Star
The Cult is the founding ideology and State religion of the Order. The followers of the Cult believe that the Universe is an Eternal Living Creature, of which everyone and everything are mere cells that exist within its infinite organism.
This lays the basis of the "Relative Reality" principle: since everything is part of the same Universal Being (and thus it's all essentially the same), therefore everything is purely relative, there's no good or evil, but just interpretations of reality based on our education and culture. Maybe someone sees something as "negative" and another one as "positive", but those are all artificial constructs of our mind that, in order to maintain our primitive concepts of "safe for your life" and "not safe", creates the Good and the Evil, Familiar and Alien.
The Cult promotes the secession from these prehistoric constructs, accepting the reality as "Nothing and the Opposite of Nothing", as well as the metaphysical equality between the concept of Life and that of Death.
The Cult encourages its disciples to live their life as they think it should be lived, because enjoying and celebrating life means celebrating the Universe itself. Decisions must be made on the basis of the reference system taken into consideration, whether it is inherent to the universality of the whole, the particularity of a defined biosphere or everyday social interactions between individuals.
However, since nobody can ultimately know the Truth about the Universe or Reality, the Cult presents itself as a fundamentally agnostic philosophy and accepts the perspectivistic way of thinking.
The Cult adopted the Black Star as its main symbol to represent this paradoxical conception, being it a star that doesn't emit light, but instead absorbs it.
Festivities Calendar
The main religious, civil and military festivities of the Order, a true cultural heritage of the BSO, are listed below. These make up the Black Star Order Festivities Calendar:
- February 1st: Foundation Day, anniversary of the BSO birth
- April 5th: Navy Day, anniversary of the Black Star Navy foundation
- August 9th: Birthday of No Man's Sky, anniversary of the release of No Man's Sky
- October 18th: Day of Enlightenment, anniversary of the creation of the Black Star Cult
Other events of National Importance are the BSO Festival and Blackout Racing Events, which take place on occasional dates.

The National Anthem "Long live the Chancellor" was composed on the occasion of the royal wedding between Chancellor Juseppe I and Princess Apollyon of the Flipside and symbolically gifted to His Eminence by the people of the Order. The lyrics are shown below:

As stated in the Constitution of the Order, the Chancellor establishes divisions called Departments in order to organize, manage and coordinate specific activities within the BSO, such as defense, research and other projects of national importance. Two Departments have been currently established.
BSO Botanical Society
The BSO Botanical Society is a non-profit scientific research company owned by the Black Star Order and based in the Tejeti Cloud region of the Euclid galaxy. The Society deals with studying and documenting strange and unique scannable flora, cooperating with multiple organizations across the Universe. RadioBSO
RadioBSO is the official broadcasting network of the Order. Managed by the government and originally called Radio Delta, it was founded to broadcast live the Black Star Navy expeditions on Weekend Missions' planets. Today it has the function of Entertainment and Culture Department with the task of promoting and organizing public events and celebrations. The Radio is active on Twitch and its slogan is "RadioBSO: Broadcasting the Universe":
The Black Star Navy is the main armed force of the Black Star Order and it has jurisdiction in every territory dominated by the BSO. Created following the catastrophic Mul'kan War, it is its fundamental duty to guarantee the safety and defense of every citizen of the Order and its allies. It is organized into Divisions, each with its own tasks and duties, from the service of interplanetary police to that of supervisor of interstellar trade routes. It's functioning and structure are organized by the BSN Codex:
Naming Guidelines
After the approval of a reform project of the Order, every naming guideline is abolished. Members are now encouraged to not modify the Star system's original name. This will help avoid any discrepancy between different platforms or server problems. Anyway, members are free to rename star systems and planets if they wish.

Additional Information
- After the Mul'kan War events planet Serenno, former capital of the BSO, is returned to its native Vy'keen people. Planet Gortle Sigma is chosen as new and definitive Capital. The Ruins of the Sun Tower are declared cultural site of the Order.
- The Black Star Temple is a holy site representing the Order within the Moonhala Temple Complex atop Mt. Gala.
- GenBra Defense Systems - Black Star Order is a defense device built in collaboration with GenBra Defense Systems to ensure the efficient defense of the Rerkungan star system.
