Description Naming Guidelines
Claimed by CELAB Galactic Industries
Updated Frontiers

CELAB Galactic Naming Guidelines is a Policy Article.

Summary[ | ]

CELAB Galactic Naming Guidelines is an updated naming policy as of the Frontiers era. This applies mainly for star systems, and optionally for planets. It applies in any region flagged as claimed by CELAB Galactic Industries in the Region Applicability subsection.

Naming of systems and planets in this format is mandatory for all employees. Reckless and continued non-compliance will result in termination of a travellers relationship with the company.

We do ask that all seriousness is taken into consideration with regard to naming discoveries.

General Naming Guidelines[ | ]

Special Character Avoidance[ | ]

It is important to avoid specific punctuation characters, even if they appear in the game names, as they will cause problems for documentation. These characters should NOT be used in names of ships, planets, fauna, multi-tools, starships etc. as they will cause problems for documentation on the wiki:

/ \ &  : ; < > [ ] ' " ? % # { } *

Abusive Naming[ | ]

In general, the company will dictate no names be used that are overtly or implicitly related to

  • racism
  • profanity
  • sexism
  • abuse
  • calls to violence

System names that exhibit such styles will be reported to Hello Games for moderation.

AGT Relationship[ | ]

The company is intimately bound to the Alliance of Galactic Travellers. As such, rules dictated under the AGT Naming Convention Guidelines will take precedence in event of a conflict.

Star System Naming[ | ]

The following guidance for is the nomenclature for naming systems:

AGT + user provided name + CEL

In general, it is recommended that the name used is rooted by the original procedural generated name (or obvious root of it by example dropping off superfluous suffixes or numbers). The traveller is free to however create their own name for system as long as they use the AGT prefix and the CEL suffix.

The intention of this new system to assist in keeping the original name recognizable. The original star system name may be used in entirety or it may be truncated as long as some original form of the name remains.

Example: System Naming[ | ]

Example Original Star System Name Recommended Name 1 Recommended Name 2
01 Alphapone AGT Alphapone CEL AGT Alphapone Alpha CEL
02 Alphapone Prime AGT Alphapone CEL AGT Alphapone Prime CEL
03 Alphapone XIX AGT Alphapone CEL AGT Alphapone XIX CEL

Planet Naming[ | ]

In general no renaming is encouraged unless the planet has a special character (most commonly, the / character appears). If the traveller wishes to rename, then it is best to:

  1. Ensure the Naming Warning against special characters, specifically /
  2. Use an AGT prefix (optional)
  3. Use a CEL suffix (optional, but encouraged)

Example: Planet Naming[ | ]

For example, if the system has three planets, we suggesting the following:

Example Original Planet Name Name Style 1 Name Style 2 Name Style 3
01 Alphapone Alphapone AGT Alphapone CEL Alphapone CEL
02 Alphapone Prime Alphapone Prime AGT Alphapone Prime CEL Alphapone CEL
03 Alphapone 56/C1 Alphapone AGT Alphapone 56 CEL Alphapone 56 CEL
