Canopus is a star system.
Summary[ | ]
Canopus is a prosperous mining star system on the outer rim of the Delta Quadrant in the Euclid galaxy. It is the home system of the Canopus Confederacy of the Forgotten Colonies on the border to the Tioliae Quadrant.
The system is under supervision of ToilGek Rukju. Due to Canopus acting as the federal capital the tireless effort of the defense fleet to hunt down pirates guarantees HIGH security!
Aboard the space station the Confederation offers emergency supplies to travellers from their supply depot and allows access to its stellar archives. No one is excluded from this service.
Planets & Moons[ | ]
- Elan Yuga is the initial planet of the system. Its proximity to its sun has transformed its surface into a vile region. With a daily peak of 6.5 Rad, tourism is not encouraged and only dedicated miners and traders visit this place. Due to the fallout of the war, the Gek are used to radiated environments, however Canopus itself was spared from this fate.
- Canopus 2 is a world without atmosphere. As such no permanent settlements are established. Yet, not all visitors are miners, as the anomaly rings that float above the surface in majestic fashion invite tourists for a one time and short-lived experience.
- Canopus Prime is a lush world, covered in water. While its surface suffers from the mild but still present radiation of the sun, the lack of flora does not extend to the oceans. The oceans are vibrant and the true home of the Gek on this world. Even though the world seems bare outside of the water, the climate is still favorable to traders of other races.
- Canopus 4 is a dry world. It sports many different species and an atmosphere, but was declared an Atlas base by the sentinels during the war. While their former allies, the Confederacy, is allowed to operate mining and forward bases, foreigners and especially Travellers are shot on sight. They don't take prisoners. Exploration is discouraged and trade should thus be conducted through Canopus Prime. Their fauna at least has already been documented.
