The Legacy Heritage Archive is an archive of pre-Atlas Rises player bases in the Legacy Hub.
Summary
The Legacy Heritage Archive is an archive of pre-Atlas Rises player bases in the Legacy Hub. It was inspired by the Galactic Heritage Archive, a similar project with a wider scope.
The Legacy Heritage Archive documents specific bases in the Legacy Hub, known as Heritage Sites, which were constructed before Update 1.30. The trans-update nature of their existence can result in interesting bases which cannot be constructed through normal in-game means or even intentional glitches. See the Classes section for more information.
Migration Timeline
The majority of Legacy Heritage Sites were abandoned as a direct result of the decision to migrate the Galactic Hub.
- August 11, 2017: Update 1.30, Atlas Rises, is released.
- August 11 - 20, 2017: The Galactic Hub staff begins the task of first determining whether the community even wants to migrate, then deciding how exactly to go about the move. This included the founding of the Galactic Hub Council on August 14.
- August 20 - 21, 2017: The 24-hour Portal Party event on Drogradur NO425, culminating in the official communal exit from the Legacy Hub region, to settle the Shungka Void and surrounding regions.
- March 2, 2018: AGT Ambassador Zazariins first proposes the concept of Federation Heritage Sites (later Galactic Heritage Sites).
- April 25, 2018: Documentation / surveying for the Legacy Heritage Archive begins.
Visiting Heritage Sites
As Heritage Sites have generally been abandoned by their original architect, they are impossible to recover if someone else should settle in the same solar system. Due to this, Legacy Heritage Sites are restricted based on their assigned Significance Level.
Additionally, Portals may be "locked down" by Galactic Hub staff if they are not useful to access the system's Heritage Site, in order to discourage Portal-travelers from claiming bases and overwriting the Heritage Site.
Any requests for information, such as system name, Portal glyphs, or coordinates, should be made through 7101334.
Classification / Hierarchy
Classes
All bases documented in this archive, deemed Legacy Heritage Sites, are believed to predate Update 1.30, also known as the Atlas Rises Update. Following the update, many bases and/or the base-planets underwent various changes. The Legacy Heritage Archive's classes (A or B) are based on the degree of change enacted on the base.
- Class A - Most common class. Minimal structural damage - may be missing a few pieces, may have a thin layer of terrain covering the ground inside the base. Always retains core base module. Planetary biomes generally undergo a shift; Class A's may be found on Barren/Dead planets, despite the ordinary lack of base modules on such planets. A Class A base may or may not move elsewhere on the planet.
- Class B - Rare. Drastic shifts - may be fully or partially underground. May float in the air. May be attached/located very close to existing structures, such as Trade Posts. Significant structural damage in the form of missing pieces, including base module, is common in Class B bases.
Significance Levels
Additionally, bases are assigned a Significance Level based on various factors such as complexity of the base, nature of the change enacted upon the base (ie buried bases rank higher due to unusual nature), and most importantly, significance in pre-Atlas Rises Galactic Hub History. Significance Levels are highest at 4 (most significant & restricted), and lowest at 1 (least significant & restricted).
- Level 1 - Level 1 sites will have their coordinates shared publicly.
- Level 2 - Level 2 sites will have their coordinates shared upon request with a low level of discretion.
- Level 3 - Level 3 sites will have their coordinates shared upon request with a high level of discretion.
- Level 4 - Level 4 sites will generally not have their coordinates shared. Sites will not generally be given Level 4 Significance Level unless requested by the original architect of a level 3 base.

This base is particularly significant due to its unusual nature: so far, it's the only example of a pre-update base which is now located in the immediate proximity of another, non-base structure. | |||||

| More Images/Videos of Binoscope's pad | Notes: A modest, half-buried base. Field of Echinocactus provides 14,900 Cactus Flesh (or "Spadonium" as it was called when this base was constructed). Features a signal booster, landing pad, core base module, narrow hallway, and Galactic Trade Terminal. Marked by Legacy Heritage Site comm and no other markers; it was only located due to being the only base on an Exotic (Bubble) planet.
This base is particularly significant because it features a Monument constructed on August 11th, the first day of Atlas Rises. It also serves as evidence that "depot farming" - a method of farming which focuses on only/primarily a single type of crop - has been practiced in the Galactic Hub community since before Atlas Rises. Lastly, it serves a reminder of old farming practices which are now outdated: these Echinocactus plants were likely grown to produce Insulating Gel as a money-making method. | |||||

All areas except uppermost biodome remain accessible. Large field of Frostwort (unsure exactly how many, but enough to fill a maxed Exosuit inventory many times over). Frostwort field itself is entirely buried, but can be easily located via Exosuit Scanner markers. Based on old pictures, a building appears to be missing, but may have been manually deconstructed.
Marked with Exocraft Geobay and Legacy Heritage Site comm, as well as a single comm from another visitor (seems to have been placed after 1.30, as it says "Still here eh? I liked the old location more."). Similarly to Binoscopes pad, this base is significant due to demonstrating depot farming practices in the pre-Atlas Rises Galactic Hub, and demonstrating now-outdated farming practices. As the name of the base suggests, it was meant solely to produce Glass - for construction purposes, but primarily for money-making purposes. Living Glass, among many other money-making alternatives, replaced regular Glass farming in the Atlas Rises era. | |||||

The nearby mountain covers the majority of the base, requiring visitors to expend significant fuel in the Terrain Manipulator (or less fuel, for less precision, in the Plasma Launcher) to fully excavate the base. The landing pad in particular is buried deep within the mountain.
This base is significant due to the extensive terrain damage enacted upon it, and because the base belongs to an Alliance of Galactic Travellers member. This base is evidence of the longstanding AGT presence within Galactic Hub space. | |||||

This is also clear evidence that the base itself did not change its location on the planet, which is common among Heritage Sites.
A reference to Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, this base is significant primarily due to who it belongs to. The architect, morgvom_org / donswelt, is a long-standing member of the Galactic Hub community, artist behind the Galactic Hub emblem (and United Federation of Travelers emblem), and creator of the Free Folk of the Fringe civilization. | |||||

The terrain remained exactly the same, but the plants have largely disappeared as the planet froze over. Lawn furniture and the local outhouse sit empty in subzero temperatures. Some crops, primarily NipNip, grow inside a biodome. It also features a giant billboard advertising the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
Base seems to be perfectly preserved with no damage / missing pieces whatsoever. | |||||

Features include a landing pad, signal booster, NPC/specialist terminals, a few crops, and core base module. This perfectly-preserved base is marked with a white beacon from the owner, as well as a Legacy Heritage Site comm station.
This barren planet lists "None" flora and "Not Present" fauna, yet also lists Star Bulb and a spider species. Anomalies like this are common in the Legacy Hub, particularly on heavily-explored planets. | |||||

The green half-pyramid features two landing pads and standard interior features (desk, decals, flag, empty room). The biodome courtyard features 65 NipNip plants and 42 Albumen Pearl plants. Of these, 13 NipNip and 16 Albumen Pearl plants are inaccessible due to the missing base module.
This base is significant as its architect, zazariins, is a founding member of the Alliance of Galactic Travellers, current AGT Ambassador for the United Federation of Travelers, and a member of the AGT leadership. The presence of this base in Galactic Hub space demonstrates the longstanding interaction and history between the two major civilizations, a cooperation which was rekindled during the Atlas Rises era. | |||||

Includes a comm station from the architect with the message, "This was my home once...", and another from Dudu_magliano, "I was here. 08/15/17. I picked your plants". This would've been days after the Atlas Rises update released, before the Galactic Hub migration was fully underway. Marked with these "ancient" comm stations, exocraft geobays, and a Legacy Heritage Site comm. No beacon. As it is an exotic planet, this is the only base on the entire planet. Also note that the planet Lost Elysium in this system, formerly Elysium, was also extensively inhabited. Although there are no bases on that planet (1-base-per-system limit appears to apply to Heritage Sites as well), there is still extensive evidence of habitation, such as uploaded discoveries and many comm stations. | |||||
