Example of a Scientist at their terminal.

The Scientist is a type of NPC player.

Summary[ | ]

The Scientist is a hirable Korvax NPC, required for base building progression. They can mostly be found in Korvax systems, but can also randomly be found in systems controlled by other species.

Requirements[ | ]

Before hiring a Scientist, the following need to be in place:

  • a Habitable Base must be claimed
  • an Overseer hired, with several of their missions completed
  • a Science Terminal needs to be constructed. Doesnt actually work

Missions - post Atlas Rises[ | ]

  1. Talk to Scientist for the first time. Receive Lubricant and Acid blueprints after first encounter.
  2. Talk to Scientist. Collect 30 pieces of Marrow Bulb and return to Scientist. Receive Voltaic Cell and Weatherproof Rubber blueprints.
  3. Talk to Scientist. Visit the marked Transmission Tower, activate it.
  4. Talk to Scientist. Visit the marked Observatory, activate it. Return to Scientist. Receive Beacon and Heat Capacitor blueprints.
  5. Talk to Scientist. Construct a beacon and return to Scientist. Receive Autonomous Mining Unit and Atmosphere Harvester blueprints.
  6. Talk to Scientist. Scan 15 new creatures (see note below) and return to Scientist. Receive Unstable Gel blueprint.
  7. Talk to Scientist. Acquire 3 Ion Batteries and return to Scientist. Receive Poly Fibre blueprint.
  8. Talk to Scientist. Visit the marked Monolith, activate it. Return to Scientist. Receive Circuit Board blueprint.
  9. Talk to Scientist. Acquire a Korvax Convergence Cube and return to Scientist. Receive Living Glass and Liquid Explosive blueprints.

Note: When I got to Step 6, the Scientist requested 4 new creature scans, not 15, in exchange for the Unstable Gel blueprint.

Note 2: I suspect that Step 6 requires you to scan all creatures on any one planet. I think I saw the mission objectives change when I moved from one planet to another to reflect the number of species on each planet.

Note 3: Heat Capacitor blueprint might appear after 9. mission. (Confirmed)

This is currently the end of the Scientist quest line.
