Request to add new company 10/14/19

Adding companies 9/24/19

I've put together a large number of resource bases that I'm wanting to introduce as a company. I have all the things listed under "requirements", but I have no idea how to.begin adding it here.

I'd appreciate help or links to resources that can guide me through the process of doing this because I don't really know where to begin. Vanyelmage (talk) 03:20, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

Well, my first suggestion would be to look at some of the other company pages in the wiki to see what other editors have created. Not that you have to follow them exactly, but it will give you an idea of a general format. Once you've reviewed, then you can follow these steps:

1) in the search bar, enter the name of your Company and search for it. You are, obviously, unlikely to find it <g>

2) You will see the phrase Create the page "xxx" on this wiki!, with the name of your company in red

3) click on the red link, then pick Company from the resulting list of blue links

4) this will open up a new page with our standard company boilerplate and some instructions.

5) go through the page and enter all the information you have in the relevant areas. You may not have info for all the areas, and that's OK. But don't delete the section headers - they are there for future reference.

6) when done, save the page

7) As for bases, follow the same basic instructions above, just pick Base instead of Company

8) once you are satisfied that you have all the information entered for the requirements, drop a note back out here and ask for a review.

COMPLETE - Gek Trading federation company request 8/8/19

Hi, can someone add the Gek Trading federation to the map? we are still documenting systems but will be finished soon.

• Gek Trading Federation - a powerful company composed of large numbers of Gek. Not much is known about them other than that they are present in 33% of all systems and are headquartered in the Alpha Quadrant in Euclid on planet New Balaron. Rumor says Gek part of the organization may have been part of the First Spawn.

COMPLETE - Request for new company 28/07/19

So it turns out as a so called 'expert' I've been asked to join a partnership in the creation of a new company. This is a collective, one I'm not too interested in but alas I find myself crawling back due to request from friends. Believe me this wouldn't have been my idea after last time. And since I have the save data and wiki account it's of course my job to do both those things. But i'm by no means the primary user here. Ownership is under my name however...I suppose. Well since I'm involved I might as well put my input in so I decided the company is a collection of all my other stuff, saves me valuable time having to discover yet another five planets etc etc. Well I hope I can merge the other systems discovered with this as this company is the merger with the other companies/civs I made. Hey I need to be recognized as the creative genius somehow right? Either way I hope you can help, well the others out, and put this one on the map under the spot of lets say LEVIATHAN and take that one off the map since it's still on there for some reason. Hi BaileyJack, since LEVIATHAN is already recognized as a Company, it would be just an exchange. That's right. However, on the page of LEVIATHAN, a note must be made that this page is no longer to be classified as a current Company. Since StormchaserCAI has already introduced to me on Reddit, there should be no problems with the owner rule. I will soon adapt the map. Did a quick look at your system pages - these need to adhere to the standard formats for star systems, and most of those sections are missing from your pages. Are you familiar with our set of preload pages? That's what you need to follow. As far as your company page, the following sections are expected there. You do have some of them, but this is the order and basic section names we look for:

• Summary
• Mission
• Location
• Headquarters
• Regions
• Branch Offices
• Background
• Partnerships
• Guidelines
• Structure
• Joining
• Employees
• Gallery

COMPLETE - Request to add new company 04/01/19

I've recorded the prerequisite amount of systems, and have an established headquarters and am hoping to now register the Trailblazer Firm. I was also wondering whether i can name it Trailblazer Corporation (although it's a sole proprietorship) just because it avoids the confusion of having company in the title (if not that's perfectly fine). COMPLETE - Pre-built Template 03/28/19

Couple of comments on this.

1) the preload templates are available for pages that have lots of entries in the wiki, and continue to have many new ones created. On the other hand, we only have a dozen recognized companies, with a dozen or so more that use the Company infobox (and several of those are just subsidiary companies) So there hasn't been much demand for company pages.

2) I did a quick look at those we do have out there and what those pages contain. The content varies widely, but the most common features are those that a civspace would also contain (other than the infobox of course, for which we do have a specific Company version)

At this point, I think most people who woutgisant to start a company can use the Civspace preload, and then just switch out the infobox. Fill me in on what you think a Company preload should provide? Ddfairchild (talk) 14:35, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

OK, I see what you're getting at. However, with the creation of companies being few and far between, at this stage it's just as easy to create a new page using the civspace page and yes, copy-and-pasting the company infobox. In this case I am agreeing with Mr. Godfather - and I would expand this to an appropriate 'Branches' page too (something I have been gearing up to create for my overly-large main page). True the Civ page and the Base page respectively may be very similar its how players come to that conclusion is what I would like to assist. I think there is a bit of thought process us 'Companies' are going thru and it's specifically that we don't want to be a civ or a base per-say we see ourselves (at least I do) as something different and I look at myself as a company specifically because I am not a civ. Regardless of the fact it is only interchangeable words and similar information... in the end proper wiki organization will only help the wiki, and making things (ie clear Company pages) easier for players/editors to find only promotes more documentation for the wiki which is a win win. Also, for the Admins to create these proper Company and Branches Templates you can oversee the evolution and process for the future. Intothedoor (talk)

(I am thinking out loud here) - Maybe we should re-think this - I would almost recommend a re-imagination of the way we get to this information. Start at the main first page of our wiki NMS wiki in the 'Civilization section' it feels incorrect to me: Factions, Lore, Game Mode, Modding and Multi-player (maybe) have nothing to little to do with 'Civilizations'. I would recommend those topics be included in a Game in general related section. Where as a Fan Fiction section would include things like Civ space (GHUB and others), Companies, Journals. So I would suggest we go to the top and re-configure how our information is displayed and include Companies within a Fan Fiction topic. Intothedoor (talk) 20:53, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

Actually, I do think that Factions and Lore have to do with civilization. Maybe not fan-fiction civs, but civilization they are. For that matter, Space stations also have more to do with civilization than they do the Universe per se. I agree with you on the Game Mode, Modding, and Multi-player, but we had to put them somewhere <g>. We shall gather the admin team together and confer - thanks! In my mind civilizations/companies are player created fan fiction, where as Factions are the in-game races and the page talks about what those in game (game created) races are; just as the Lore page discusses in-game (game created) Lore. Journals and other fan fiction like documents would be player created Lore. I would suggest a new section be created with a title in the vein of in-game information (features and information). I was just checking the Template:Companies infobox/doc and what each of the companies filled out. I feel there are some inconsistencies and the template could use some tweaking. I propose that the Type should be used for the Company Categories abbreviations only and text written here will have a link to the Company Categories page. What is currently written in the Type, would be renamed as Specialisation or something like this. I would rename Product to Services as it can be interpreted more broadly and it may sounds better for companies, like GenBra Space Corp and Intergalactic Exploration Corporation, the Services: Galactic Information expression. Now that I am understanding better, I do like what Gorla is suggesting. Adding Type: Non-Profit; changing Product to Services: Galactic Information; changing (current) Type to Specialization: Scientific Exploration and Documentation. That makes good sense to me. I would like to add my two cent on this; the template looks great! However I would like to add if the Company is a UCA member. Look the Corporate Alliance has grown considerably into a prominent 10 company alliance. We've worked very hard to built our alliance just like the federation has. COMPLETE - Company Categories 03/24/19

I've been brainstorming ideas to categorise companies based on there mission statements and to color code them on the map and I think I got something -

• Sole Proprietaryship(SPs) - A company that is run by a single individual with greater flexibility of management and assists.

• General Partnership(GPs) - A company with two or more individuals running it with no personal liability or negligence between the partners.

• Limited Partnership(LPs) - A company with one or more general partners and a limited partner such as a civilization.

• Mega Corporation(MC) - A more complex company with a large management team and structure usually five or more members.

• Nonprofit Corporation(NpC) - A company with a specific goal or idea rather than in interest in profit.

• Limited Liability Company(LLC) - A company of one or more individuals under a specific contract or agreement.

These are just a few we could incorporate. The UCA already has some of these like MegaCorp is well a mega corporation, Vy'Kea and LEVIATHAN are sole proprietaryships and Celab GALACTIC is limited partnership since Celab has ties to AGT. The Godfather (talk) 11:21, 24 March 2019 (UTC

Quadrant Corporate Sectors 03/17/19

The Corporate Alliance has begun building four special "Hubs" as places where CEO's of Companies in their respective quadrant can meet, trade, build, and promote their Enterprises. It will be a free marketplace for all who want to conduct business on all platforms - PS4, XBox, and PC.

The first has been created in the Delta Quadrant with the coordinates -

Hello The Godfather, I've been thinking about Corporate Sectors. Result is the Market area, as a new category. I've added the category to the Companies map. Edit: I have undone the market areas. I think it makes more sense to wait and see what comes of it. In addition, I have added new branches. So are the "hubs" companies or are they civspaces? It doesn't sound like they are either. And if that's the case, I'm not convinced these belong on either the company OR the civspace map.
