How do you know what "star-level" a specific group pirates attacking you is? "Destructive (1-5 pirates, combined strength up to 9 stars)" what does this even mean?

First of all, the power of an attacking group is not spelled out for you. These ratings simply give you an idea of what you might encounter.
Let's take your case as an example:
  • "Destructive" is one of the descriptive levels for a Conflict-3 planet. The various descriptions you might encounter can be found on the Conflict Level page.
  • "1-5 pirates" indicates the number of pirate ships that may attack
  • "combined strength up to 9 stars" shows how powerful the attacking force may be
Each pirate ship is rated 0-3 stars, with more stars going to nastier pirates.
So for example, if you enter a zone described as "Destructive", you might encounter any of the following pirate squadrons:
  • 3 ships rated 2, 2, and 1 stars (total of 5 stars)
  • 5 ships rated 3, 3, 2, 1, and 0 stars (total of 9 stars)
  • 1 ship rated 2 stars (total of 2 stars)
Hope this helps... Ddfairchildd (talk) 05:51, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

DDF's explanation is correct, note however this (clearly mentioned) empirical list was done during Atlas Rises and Origins. As such it may have changed. The goal was to gauge the actual danger you face ingame as some pirates back then really packed a punch down to 2-3 times recharging with fresh Titanium, bach when it was Titanium.

The empirical list should be read as presented in its entirety. If conflict 3 tells you at least 1 but up to 5 ships and the highest known combined strength was 9... it means at worst you fight two elites and their clown friend or a giant ball of annoying tiger mosquitos. Conflict 1 was very stable 1-2 pirates if they attacked and elite chance very low. That's basically it. Thamalandis (talk) 16:42, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

Ok, thank you! I have data on some of the 'conflict level descriptors' that are not yet mentioned in this page. I'm involved in a project and have 'number of pirates' for some of the descriptors not on this page. Is it ok if I include the number of pirates without adding the "combined strength" since this seems pretty hard to guage effectively now-a-days? TacticoolTim (talk) 00:06, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
It's an empirical list. Unless your numbers are FAR from the shown numbers instead of "about the same" ballpark, do as you wish. Just replacing information has to be proven. New ones will just stand until disproven.Thamalandis (talk) 00:56, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Thamalandis is correct here - I would say go ahead and update the page with your information. Ddfairchildd (talk) 06:46, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
