The Volition Project is a civilized space community.
Summary
The Volition Project is an open group of explorers promoting the expansion of Civilized space throughout known space. We do this as associated individuals with the understanding that no one can do everything alone. We seek the help of others and encourage team effort wherever possible.
The Project’s principal headquarters are located in the Lihalaw Void region of the Euclid galaxy.
Mission Statement
We recognise the limits a civilisation subjects itself to by staying put without intrepid expansion. We are curious frontiersmen and -women. We want to explore these worlds out there and drive the frontier ever further by finding new places and by claiming worthy assets for generations of pioneers who may follow in our wake.
Background
The Volition Project was founded some standard years ago by a small group of entrepreneurs and adventurers with the aim of venturing into the unknown that lies just beyond our doorstep in space.
To illustrate our extraordinary determination, we have chosen to team up and to bundle our efforts under one project. Furthermore, we chose the term 'volition' in the project's name and to embrace its true meaning. It is to demonstrate our commitment - our will! - to pursue our goals and to overcome obstacles wherever they present themselves.
The Volition Project is multiversal. It has always been. We have journeyed far and wide, taken part in all kinds of savoury (and maybe less savoury) enterprises, and established outposts and companies in various versions of reality and in different universes at different points in time. Some of these endeavours include the New Eden Cluster of stars and its associated wormhole pockets and the 'Bubble' and 'Colonia' movements in the Milky Way galaxy.
Currently, the Project concentrates its activities on exploring and helping to develop the Lihalaw Void, a cluster of stars some 8,000 light years coreward of the Galactic Hub regions of the Euclid galaxy. We strive to discover and understand the rich history of the three principal alien races and thereby solve the riddles of the Atlas Interfaces and, ultimately, the fate of the universe itself (again!).

Naming Guidelines
There are no naming guidelines within the Project. Members and associates are encouraged to rename colonised assets where they deem it necessary in order to facilitate communications and to avoid too awkward name strings in our daily operations.
As an example, a hypothetical system of Iniarlyo-Usil could be renamed into the simpler form of Inarlo. Oxygen is precious in space.
