United Nations 42 is a formal alliance of civilized space communities.

Summary

The United Nations 42 , U.N.42 or UN42 is a Civilized space community founded by the Cafe 42.

Our main forum is the NMS_UN42 Subreddit.

We operate internally in a closed Discord where each entity has a single representative. We are now a sealed invitation elite choice based only entity. (We are quite specific on who we'd invite now, and under what merit.) We have chosen to divorce words we find overused and kind of not only incorrect in representative theory of what we are at heart, but also we agree some words are overly dramatic and war-intentional in tone.

Bad: Alliance of civilization Good: Faction Guild of entities

Why? Alliance: means support in war. Forget war. We're simply supportive. Civilization: lends people to think civs, but they forget organizations, companies, charities, foundations, nomads, exploration crews, tribes and clans. Faction: Pvp is a faction of player chosen interaction. Nomadic wanderers, bazaar emporiums are trading and random location factions of gameplay. Guild: We are large house that has many houses inside, all are sovereign but no political face other than what they themselves choose to have and act upon in their own space. Within the House, we are simply equals sharing space in unison for the betterment of our creations and health/happiness of ourselves. Consider us a Faction Guild.

Goals

To create a place where chosen player collectives can come together to network, grow, solidify friendships, and discover the positive side of playing with others in a large guild setting. We aim to provide support and longevity practices in our work to raise all up together, and see that those who truly try are sustained and rewarded in the public and overall community for their contributions. Viability is needed by all, remembering each civ's uniqueness is key to lasting and staying active.

We are seeking to make political aspects useable on global needs only (greifers, game breakers, bad human issues, etc)to focus instead on actual enjoyment of the game itself and those around you. This is useful while learning how to navigate the strange landscape of the online social universe where it meets the actions you take in game, and the need of both sides (socials & in game) to really exist. As a sandbox game, we believe it's best enjoyed as a sanctuary and source of entertainment value rather than eliciting feelings of obligation and stress. As such, documentation falls behind active playing and community participation in importance as well. In short, we are here to have stay true, original, real, non-dramatic, fun filled, relevant, and somehow have less stress.

Background

While the UN serves to support those who wish an official political representation, we strive to keep this realistically productive for everyone's benefit. It is a game, after all - politics are fun on rare and unique occasion but should never decide more than you, the player, wish it to. As a Faction Guild, the UN is a player based creation built specifically to support, mediate, provide direction and resources when needed and give you a place to network while avoiding drama. In this construct you'll find we are a bit like the Nexus in game - we have the general activity areas in the main common spaces to keep the focus on activity and enjoyment, with specialized offshoots within it to meet specific needs and/or creative endeavors deemed overall beneficial to the general population of No Man's Sky players. Though the seat of the UN is in the first galaxy known as Euclid, anyone who leads and joins is welcome from anywhere within the NMS universes (pending approval.)

There is room here for nomads, tiny tribes, townships, companies, full civs, and even hubs within this structure. All are sovereign, we don't lead you - you lead yourselves. We exist as an umbrella over your head, a boost to your online existence, a helping hand, and a source of fun and friendships (with protection and support when you need it.) Can we politically hold our own? Absolutely - but you'll find the other topics of civilization just as interesting, As we're past five years of existence, we've found much of NMS politics is akin to herding cats, and sometimes with about the same amount of fun involved. We try to keep this light and help it stay manageable while still passionate- but not letting it become the only focus a collective endures , as that's no life for a leader, and an overwhelmed leader won't last long, historically speaking.

We're out for longevity for all collectives, best player retention possible, while finding and keeping relevancy so none are lost. A primary focus is maintaining the balance for the average player so when they look for a group to join and they see the UN banner, they know the leaders inside are of good character and that their civs are worth their personal time and activity. This breeds bigger, stronger structures for you, and members that are loyal and proud to belong there. Player retention goals are the overall want more than anything, all this helps that happen.

Navigation and Regions

Regions

U.N.42 offers a single region to its leader members to coexist and network in. In Jiraniel, it provides a great location to get to know your fellow ambassadors better. The capital planet being Fafor XVI. This region is known as Utopia (Euclid). The literal round table is off site for security purposes, and is by invite only for that reason.

INDUCTION/STANDARD PRACTICES

Screening and vetting is standard, though no invites would be sent unless they're historically drama free, open view, positive effect on global player scape, cares for their creation & members first as well.
Wikis are encouraged for civs to have online searchability but is not necessary for us.
A choice of either creating a civ subreddit, website, online page that doesn't require special access or signups to view or wiki to Fandom's NMS wiki standards for civ status is base level request though for visibility.
Invitations will be sent by me (Lillihop/NMScafe)as Keeper of the UN. Suggestions by internal members are considered and looked into, viable fits will be voted on and if all want an entity there, I will send a request.
Every entity is sovereign.
Every entity governs itself as it sees fit.
Each entity is held accountable for itself alone.
Spies are discouraged & are your responsibility- if you have them, they exist with your name in the balance.
We do not condone nor condemn political views towards others but we do request tact, understanding, honesty and peace in any protest you may seek outside the UN.
The UN does not allow attacks upon others in the collective name of the UN42.
The main table does not respond to inter-entity conflict. We may mediate if it is requested by both UN parties.
War is considered mutually consensual and the table will not intervene.

Any alliance of entities is exclusive to themselves- they are neither endorsed nor discouraged by the table.

If dual alliance civs wish to have a voting seat, UN must be their primary. If UN is *not* their primary, general consensus view will be taken into consideration instead. Integrity and honest input of, by, and for the actual members of the UN42 is required for transparency in opinion.

Any person(s) who seek direct intentional harm to the house overall or those who find sanctuary within it will be removed- however disputes, suggestions, issues and other normal proceedings will be put to the table for thoughtful review and input. We seek open conversation, but we won't allow attacks or harmful bouts of loss of mental faculties upon others - please conduct yourself like a good human is all we ask.

Side note on other collectives:

We aren't them. We are us. That's it. There is no comparison to make. We are intentionally different for a reason, and originality is key. Now take that thought and apply it further to UFT, Underworld. They also are unique. They are them, and none of any are alike. This is not a sides or anti or vs scenario, all are simply variety in the player scape. If you dislike anyone, the winning move is simply don't join them. Negativity is redundant and unnecessary.

THE "SERIOUS" TABLE

The table is a collective effort by every entity. Each entity has a seat at the table, as defined below. No one person has more power than another. Equality is key.

Terms of office to be determined as voted upon by the member's own community, whoever is leader has the seat.
All large acts will require a vote by all entities, each may decide how to come to the decision of their vote entry.
If there are, say, 20 civs- then there are 20 seats. There is no other higher position.
The Keeper of the House cannot vote on general proceedings irrelevant to their own civ. I, as Keeper, can advise and inform, relay information, set up contacts,start polls, get things moving for input from others, and assist in non-voting processes. This role is one of neutral stance and support. Consider me Switzerland.
I may only vote on behalf of my own civ (Cafe42), and this only based on my own community’s input.
This is the equivalent of part UN, part Geneva Convention and part fun sanctuary- as it should be.

TRAVELING ETIQUETTE

There is a need for a mobile treaty for travel and exploration into non allied territory. This will be known as the "We Come In Actual Peace" treaty.

The items herein are simple courtesies that are useful anywhere in the game, even when in your own locales.
Always try to use emotes or chat to show you are peaceable.
Please don’t destroy personal player/resident environments.
Refrain from uploading discoveries or renaming. Leave this to the residents who actually live there, I’m sure you wish the same for your home.
Request permission or announce before visiting a base that isn’t yours.
You are a stranger in their home. They may treat you like one- that’s a normal response, honestly. I expect you to react the same way, it’s human and understandable!
Do not attack or harass others, nor should they to you.
If you are attacked, do record it. Take names.
Bring this info to the Table. An investigation will be conducted by myself and House security (NNQ) to assess the situation and see who is at fault before proceeding further.
Video proof is key. It’s irrefutable in an argument, and so is priceless to anyone in this situation.
It protects the player, and later, those whose name will be attached to the end result action.

WE DON'T HAVE

This coalition base of creation *eliminates* requirements of:

Civ limitations
Data locations
Social media requirements
Restrictions on affiliation
Styles of gameplay
Historical mistakes never falling off
Political not the main focus
Being surrounded by people who aren't already deemed worthy of your time

UN42 Accountability Clause:

While we seek to assist all we encounter as mere players in this shared universe we claim as home, there lies a few undeniable moments where more insight gained leads to a new direction. These passing phases may end abruptly in what seems to be a positive outcome for those involved, however the lines crossed along the way:

miscommunication,
withholding intent or context of the total event view,
or change in leadership/redirection

These above may lead to retraction of pre-offered assistance to protect the integrity and sanity of the UN42 family that is already bound by trust.

This isn't to deny or assume any ill inherent feelings to be unfounded by the retraction, that's fair. Also fair is protecting those already holding vote ability and vetted honor and trust values within our core home, as it's their voices upon which retractions are based.

We serve the whole, I serve the whole, as a unified family of entities that have equally respected opinions and preferences that guide their input. We don't have simple declaration votes, we sit at the table as friends and talk it out openly and bluntly so we can really understand the full metric of each viewpoint properly. It's upon this base of communication that decisions are made.

If in the event an early invitation to join or be assisted was subsequently pulled upon later assessment, this is because the scope of the internal awareness changed and became more informed- this causing a decline in earlier official supported theory. This does not mean we will never come to aid in emergency, nor will we never send wings in a security event should it be needed and the entity is indeed the victim. It does mean in the present and likely very short future if one can see ahead (no one really can) that there may develop a new invitation or assistance bridge to be built between us, it's just not currently wise nor felt to be a good fit into the UN42 home as it is.

Friendship based personal 1:1 assistance may be given by any, but we hold all within the UN42 to the same request that it be unofficial, without label or title, and not marked by their own respective creation's name nor the UN42's- because if the overall sentiment towards inclusion fell on the table without admission or induction, then a verifiable connection should be held off until a revisited motion is brought up again. This protects the whole, as it keeps a line of synchrony between factions in respect to one another, and should never be seen as negligence or attempt to ostracize- for if that was the case, we wouldn't know you to begin with. In short: you matter to us, though time/rehash at the table later on is needed before we can openly declare it as an induction or assistance bridge approved by the majority therein.

The UN name will be modified soon to permamantly change the acronym, removing alliance primary focus & aim at something more helpful, correct, beneficial,& needed. It will be tongue in cheek, like Factions of United Nations= F.U.N. for instance.
In the name of enjoyment, each month we'll vote on what our acronym stands for, and whatever that is, we will collect things for and I'll post on socials with limited context- a long running inside joke for us.

Mandatory:

Be a good human.
Don't use our whole collective as power play to do shady things
Expect to assist others, they will assist you in kind.
No negative actions taken by any entity will be associated with myself, NMScafe, the Café Amino, or the Café 42 civ, or the whole of the collective.
Handle your own. It’s your civ. Be a community, be a leader. No one can do that for you.
Respect others but don't forget to respect yourself and what you worked so hard to make.

Admission requires the following items. This is for the safety of the new entity as well as others and shows the entrant isn't joining without the tiniest bit of effort, desire, and transparency.

The U.N. Accord

To gain certain attention and support requires effort on both sides of the coin. This is a simple agreement, and promotes full autonomous play for all parties involved- this is to coexist with the Federation as equals, not to seek to destroy one another.

You refrain from:

Profane language/downvoting on Reddit as an act of retribution
Aggressive attacks
Threatening
Debasement
Harassment
Instigation of needless conflict
Infringement upon community members
Slander
Inciting witch-hunts
Spreading of falsified information
Copying/ "borrowing elements of" or infringing upon the intellectual rights of others (UN or non)

You gain:

Note:

) Any civilisation that breaks any part of this Accord will be dealt with accordingly by those affected (of course.) If any organisation is found to be in breach of contract, all terms given in support will be voided. To be fair, if one does break the House Standards, were they ever meant to be in a collective place to begin with? Probably not.
) If this overall wiki seems more casual and unofficial, it's intended. We can be as powerful as need be to the masses when it's a global context, but otherwise we refuse to relegate our existences to drama, political nonsense, random snake oil for clout attempts, and placing ourselves in time wasting situations when we work hard to give our own members in our creations the best we can. Priorities.

I am choosing to change as much as I can because the terms used weren't decided by individual creators, but rather mostly input from one sector that isn't my own. I love that others use it, but it is not us, we are official yes, but of a different definition.
